The Geological Society of Lithuania
The Geological Society of Lithuania (LGS) – is a professional, non-governmental, independent organisation uniting Lithuanian geologists. Membership in LGS is open to anyone working in the field of geology, as well as individuals or enterprises with a keen interest in geology. LGS was established on November 10, 1989.
LGS delegates national representative of Lithuania to International Union of Geosciences (IUGS) and is a proud member of the European Federation of Geologists (EFG). The Quaternary Geology Section of LGS actively participates in INQUA activities, including the Peribaltic working group, representing Lithuania as an associate member.
The primary objectives of LGS are to promote the advancements of geology, advocate for the interests of the geological community, and represent Lithuanian geology on the international stage.
Our specific tasks include:

- Promoting applied geology.

- Conducting outreach activities for the general public and educational programs for schools.

- Providing support for geological museums, exhibitions, and geological monuments.

- Preserving our geological heritage.

- Publishing the journal „Geologijos akiračiai.”
LGS carries out its activities through a dedicated board, commissions, and sections.
