Dear colleagues, students and geology enthusiasts,
We are pleased to invite you to the Baltic Basement Webinar on 8 October 2025, which will provide an overview of the crystalline basement geology of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
The webinar is organised as part of a smaller workgroup meeting taking place in Latvia, where representatives of the three countries will discuss future opportunities for joint basement research.
The programme includes four open lectures:
- Latvia – A Geological and Geophysical Overview of the Data and Interpretations on the Crystalline Basement of Latvia (Ģirts Stinkulis, Viesturs Zandersons, Dmitrijs Vorobjovs, Matīss Brants; University of Latvia)
- Estonia – The Estonian Paleoproterozoic Basement: Geological and Geophysical Overview (Alvar Soesoo, Geological Survey of Estonia; Jüri Plado, University of Tartu)
- Lithuania – Key Study Areas in the Lithuanian Precambrian: Recent Mapping, P–T Modelling Approaches, Isotope and Geochemical Investigations (Gražina Skridlaitė, Laurynas Siliauskas; State Scientific Research Institute Nature Research Centre)
- Lithuania – Geological Mapping as a Continuous Integratory Study of the Platform Basement (Case of Lithuania) (Prof. Emeritus Gediminas Motuza, Vilnius University)
The lectures will be of interest to researchers, students, and anyone curious about the deep geology of the Baltic region.
